Risen Kids

Every Sunday Morning

Ages 2-5 (every week)
Ages 0-5 (every other week)
Meets during the sermon

Risen Kids exists to assist parents in leading their children to follow Jesus.

We take seriously the responsibility to provide a safe and loving environment in which children can learn. Each lesson and activity strives to help children know Jesus, understand His Word, and share Jesus’ love with others!

Our Children’s Ministry aims to join parents in shepherding the children. Our hope and prayer is that by God’s grace, these children would bear much fruit in following Jesus, and be a transformative influence in Concord, Cabarrus County, and among the nations!

Ages Served

Every week, our pre-school class meets during the sermon, and serves children from ages 2 - 5.

Every-other week, we add a nursery which serves ages 0-2. (We are making incremental steps toward a weekly nursery as our team grows). Here are our planned nursery weeks in Q2 2024 (April - June):

  • April: 14th, 28th

  • May: 12th, 26th

  • June: 9th, 23rd

Safety & Check-In

In order to help each child in their spiritual journey, we take extensive steps to ensure that they feel and remain safe while in our care. Each volunteer-teacher has been background checked, vetted, and trained to work with your child and ensure their safety.

Our Kids Check-In Team will be the first to meet you and help you check in at the kiosk in our main foyer. Here is the information we will need the first time you check in your child:

  • Parent’s Name & Contact Info (in case we need to reach you during service)

  • Child’s Name

  • Allergies or other need-to-know information

Once checked in, your child will worship with you during our first few songs and our time of prayer, and they’ll be released to Risen Kids during the final song before the sermon.

Curriculum

Every week, we study and discuss a story from Kevin DeYoung’s The Biggest Story Bible curriculum and our kids color a corresponding coloring sheet. Occasionally, we’ll use an additional game or craft. The kids also sing songs from Seeds Family Worship and enjoy a few minutes free play until our worship gathering has concluded and parents are ready to pick-up. If you have further questions, please feel free to email ian@risennc.com.

Risen Kids - FAQ

Why is Kids’ Ministry only during the sermon?

We do this for a few reasons. First, we want the whole church to worship together for part of every Sunday. Second, this helps our children be prepared for the transition out of Kids Ministry when they reach the age that they stay in the whole service. Rather than creating an abrupt change, they grow into being present for the entire service. Finally, it allows our volunteers who serve in Risen Kids to be present for most of the main gathering, even when they are serving.

Do you plan to start a nursery?

Absolutely! We need 4 to 6 more volunteers to be ready to launch a nursery, and when we are there, we will start a second space to serve ages 0-2. At that time, our older kids’ class will adjust to serve ages 3-6.

Will there ever be more Kids’ Programming?

By our third year of ministry, we hope to launch an “Equipping Hour” (otherwise known as Sunday School) for both children and adults. During that time, we will likely utilize a full-spectrum Kids’ Ministry Curriculum like Truth:78, in age-specific classes.

Is Risen Kids Allergy Friendly?

Yes! The only snacks we serve are Chex Cereal (gluten, dairy, and nut-free) and water. However, it is still helpful for us to be aware of any food allergies your child may have.

What should I bring for my child?

It can be helpful to bring a small bag or backpack for your child with any supplies you want to send with them. In particular, we love if you pack a re-usable water bottle and any additional snacks (allergy friendly for others’ sake) your child may need beyond the Chex we provide.

Do I need to sign-up / check-in before visiting?

No! We will gladly get you set-up, on the spot, at your first visit. You are welcome to find us on Church Center (search for Risen Church in Concord, NC 28027) and add your profile and family information in advance, however.
